I vote for principle. I agree with Councillor Bradshaw. The competitive tendering process is put in place to guarantee fair prices, impartiality and transparency to vendors and ratepayers alike. That process should have been followed here. I would not support this deal.
I vote for pragmatism. I agree with Mayor Yule. This is a win win situation for the community. As long as the Council believes the sports park is getting its roadwork done at a fair price, it's OK to forego the competitive tender process in exchange for this large contribution. I support the deal.
