ICT Research Priorities of Cooperation between Africa and Europe

The EuroAfrica-ICT.org initiative, funded by the European Commission’s DG Information Society and Media (DG INFSO), aims to support the development of information society policy dialogues and to strengthen cooperation on ICT research between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative, first launched in 2005 through the EC’s Framework Programme for research funding (namely through the START and EuroAfriCa-ICT projects), now enters a new two-year phase ending in December 2011. The EuroAfrica-ICT initiative supports the evolution of the EC’s research funding programmes through the identification of priority and joint ICT research topics, from which recommendations for future cooperation programmes and projects will be derived.

To identify current, emerging and future priority ICT research topics, the project is conducting this online consultation as a first step towards gathering inputs from a wide range of African and European key stakeholders in the field who could assist in shaping the direction of future EC research programme activities.

We would appreciate your time and expert opinion in completing this online survey (it will take you about 10-15 minutes). This survey is to be completed by you in your personal capacity as an ICT expert, rather than on behalf of your organisation.

All information will be regarded as confidential and survey results will be analysed with no reference to individual or organisational details. A summary of the results will be shared through this website, and in workshops and fora to be held in both Europe and Africa during 2010 and 2011.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

The EuroAfrica-ICT Partnership
