Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. East Harlem has a strong retail business base. However, a report in 2004 found that the local retail stores only capture 17% of the potential business in the community. This means that a there is a demand that is not being met by the local retail.
The purpose of this survey is to help Community Board 11 find out why people shop in East Harlem and why residents choose to shop elsewhere. Community Board 11 is also interested in knowing what stores and services are lacking. This information will allow the Community Board to make more informed decisions based around the community's needs.
