Project Title: What makes an early career planner effective?

We are asking early career planners to look at a series of attributes to:
(1) identify which you think are important
(2) identify any further discipline specific attributes that you think are needed by early career planners.

The online survey takes approx. 15 minutes and needs to be completed in 1 session. Thank you in advance for your participation.

The research project: This study is being undertaken by Professor Dory Reeves during 2012-2013 to investigate what makes an early career urban planner effective in their work and to compare the views of students, managers and early career planners. By early career we mean those who have been in practice for no more than 5 years and who are regarded as effective by their managers.

The benefits of the research: The research will indirectly benefit employers as they will have the opportunity to reflect on their employees’ professional training. The research will benefit academic institutions offering planning programmes as well as the professional bodies.

Confidentiality : Participants will not be identifiable through the Survey Monkey tool. The manager will not have access to the interview data relating to their employees or the employees of any other employer.

Use of the information gathered: The information collected as part of the interviews will be used in research reports and peer reviewed journals.

Data storage: To ensure confidentiality, participant data will be stored on campus at The University of Auckland for 6 years in a locked cabinet. Original data will be stored separately from coded data to maintain confidentiality. Access to the data will be limited to the researcher.

Right to withdraw from participation: As a participant you have the right to withdraw from the process at any time.
