VA Env Education Master Plan Update

 50%
Over the past few years, efforts to strengthen environmental education in our state have been guided by The Business Plan for Environmental Education in Virginia. In this master plan, measurable goals and objectives were developed for K-12 and community audiences. Now is the time to evaluate our progress. To accomplish this, we need to hear from you!

We are asking individual educators, teachers, parents and Virginia Naturally partner organizations to help assess what's been effective and how to allocate existing resources.

Data from this survey will be used to make recommendations for changes within the state environmental literacy master plan. It is expected that an updated state plan will be required for federal funding.

Your input is very valuable and we expect to have initial results by September 20th. Thank you for taking time to tell us how delivery of environmental education can be improved in Virginia.

Major Goals of Virginia’s Plan (2004) include:

• Establish outdoor classrooms & meaningful EE programs at every school in within the next decade.
• Establish programs and/or facilities in every community with partners who can help provide off-campus experiences.
• Offer mini-grants and training to 150 schools per year.
• Fund Virginia Naturally, the information clearinghouse for EE.
• Provide professional development and link formal & community-based partners.
• Build capacity that employ local resources for meaningful outdoor education and stewardship in every community in Virginia.
