Right now there is a restriction of dogs in the Nelson's downtown. They are not allowed.
People who are in favour of keeping the present law say dogs owners don't cleanup after their dogs. Some people are concerned about violent dogs and would be afraid to walk downtown if dogs were re-allowed downtown.
People who want to bring dogs back to Baker St. say many tourists stay away from Nelson because we have a reputation of being a anti-dog community. They say laws about dogs always being in control of their owner is sufficient. They also say laws against dogs in downtown cores is unusual.
