Welcome to the BioBlitz Participant Sign-up Form!

The Wetlands Initiative is hosting its first-ever BioBlitz over June 13-14 at the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge at Hennepin & Hopper Lakes in north-central Illinois. A BioBlitz is a 24-hour event during which as many different species as possible are identified and recorded in an area. Teams will be led by expert scientists throughout the Refuge to survey the site in order to document its biodiversity.

In this survey, you will be asked to sign up for different group activities that will run during the BioBlitz. Each activity lists the maximum number of participants, the activity level, and special equipment that the activity requires.

When signing up for activities, please be sure that you will be attending the BioBlitz during that time period. The activities are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. All activities are subject to change.

The BioBlitz is appropriate for people in high school and older; high school-age participants must be accompanied by a parent.

Thanks for your interest in the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge, and we look forward to seeing you at the BioBlitz!
