AWE / GLPF Low-interest Loan Survey

Alliance for Water Efficiency Low-Interest Loan Survey

The Chicago-based Alliance for Water Efficiency, with funding from the Great Lakes Protection Fund, has been examining industrial water conservation opportunities within the Great Lakes watershed. Our work has uncovered two significant findings:

A. Significant water conservation opportunities exist within the multitude of Great Lakes industries.

B. The effects of those opportunities, scaled across the full region, would have significant financial value for the industries and long-term benefits for the water supplies, water quality, infrastructure construction and maintenance, and the overall environment.

A company’s ability to obtain funding represents one of the potential obstacles we have encountered. In response, we are developing a strategy for a revolving fund program designed to help finance the implementation of conservation measures.

As we move forward, we are interested in your thoughts on the need for and potential of this funding mechanism. Thank you for taking a few minutes to answer these survey questions:
1. To the best of your knowledge, is your company in the Great Lakes watershed?
2. What is your industrial sector or the nature of your business?
3. Would the availability of low-interest loans to finance water efficiency projects affect your company's decisions on implementing water efficiency measures?
4. Does your company currently have proposed water efficiency improvement projects that are not being implemented due to lack of available funding?
5. What is your best estimate of the lowest interest rate on funds currently available to your company for facility improvements?
6. What is the maximum payback in years your company uses to determine investing in efficiency measures?
7. Comments
