1. Introduction - A Brief Survey about the Public Interest Hiring Market

NALP - the Association for Legal Career Professionals - is conducting a brief, anonymous survey of nonprofit and government public-interest law offices throughout the country about 1) recent law student and law graduate hiring and 2) hiring expectations for the immediate future. We will use the data to produce a report about what the public interest hiring landscape looks like now and how it may change in the near future.

NALP will release the report in late October. The report will be made freely available on our PSLawNet website: www.pslawnet.org. The report will NOT identify any participating organizations by name. We hope the report will benefit the public interest legal community as well as law students and attorneys who are on public service career paths.

Attorneys with nonprofit and government (local/state/federal) legal organizations in the U.S. should participate. There is a place in the survey to indicate whether you are responding on behalf of the entire organization, a branch office of a larger organization, or a practice unit within a larger organization.

The survey response deadline has been extended to Tuesday, September 28, 2010.

Thank you in advance for your participation. Please contact Steve Grumm at NALP with any questions/concerns: sgrumm@nalp.org.
