The SOS Institute is an interactive 2-day training to enhance organizational infrastructure and provide institutional sustainability support for community based organizations working with underrepresented and underserved populations.

Presented by: U. S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women In partnership with Family Violence Prevention Fund.

As a result of this workshop, participants will be better able to:
1. Utilize individual and organizational resiliency as a framework to build organizational capacity.
2. Clarify and incorporate core values to organizations, including mission, short and long term goals.
3. Resolve organizational infrastructure challenges to align with mission and core values.
4. Create planning processes that connect daily workloads with long term goals.
5. Prepare organizational protocols for constructive communication and conflict resolution.
6. Initiate and engage in meaningful, reciprocal collaboration.
7. Build negotiation and advocacy skills to develop and sustain organization.
8. Create a development plan and budget for organizational sustainability.
9. Produce an action plan with concrete next steps to integrate learning into organization.

Who may attend?

Community-based organizations (CBOs) that work with specific underrepresented and underserved populations. The communities may include, but not limited to: deaf community, LGBT community, newly arrived communities, rural communities, and other underrepresented communities.

Participants must come in teams of 2-3 individuals, which may include, but not limited to: executive director, board member, and program staff.

OVW grantees and their partners can participate and use their travel funds to send grant funded staff and partners to this training, with prior approval from their OVW Program Manager.

Limited space may be available to non-OVW funded organizations.
