What do you call a non-licensed individual practicing as an architect? |
What's in a name?
Legally, in the state of Minnesota, unless you are licensed by the Board of Registration, then you are not allowed to use any derivative of the term "architect" in your title. This typically means that non-licensed architects are called "intern", "designer", or "project manager". NCARB promotes the use of either of the following terms: intern architect, architectural intern. Nationally, the AIA also promotes the use of those terms. Additionally, a number of other states allow the use of architectural intern or intern architect.
