This research study focuses on disordered eating behaviors among adults. The study will involve a few questions about your family’s and your own mental health histories, as well as series of questionnaires that will ask you to rate certain behaviors, attitudes and personality traits on a scale in terms of how much they describe or do not describe you. These questionnaires may evoke feelings of discomfort, and you should feel free to withdraw from the study at any point. If needed, a principal investigator will talk to you within 24 hours and help you to find resources in your area. There are no great foreseeable risks associated with participating in this study.

The surveys should take about half an hour to fill out. The benefit of this research is that it can help us to better understand why people engage in disordered eating and the various factors that contribute to the development of eating disorders.

The survey results will be kept confidential, and your name will never be used in the study. You will be referred to by ID number in the records.

Participation in this research is completely voluntary. In return for your participation in the study, you will be entered in a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card. You may refuse to participate or you can decide to withdraw and have your data destroyed at any point during the study without any penalty.
