Program Priorities
Due to budget challenges, the City of Shelton may need to make cuts in services later this year. Please complete this survey so we can know your priorities. Your feedback is vital.
Please review the program descriptions as you mark each answer. Included in each description is the total budget allowance for the program and the percentage of the overall budget.
Programs are divided into three categories:
MANDATED programs probably cannot be removed wholly, and for legal reasons we may not be able to cut them at all. Nevertheless, if you and others would prefer to cut or eliminate a mandated program we can pass the word along to our legislators or members of congress.
HI REGULATION programs are discretionary but carry considerable consequences if we do not fund them adequately.
DISCRETIONARY programs are not legally required, regardless of their community support or other benefits.
