The learning objectives for this session were:
1. Participants will gain knowledge about the land use planning process, the laws and factors that influence it, the roles, responsibilities and relationships in the planning process, and opportunities for involvement and partnerships.
2. Participants will learn how preservation links with - and has a role - in community values and goals; and when, why and how it should be integrated with visions, goals, policies, regulations and decisions through land use planning.
3. Participants will leave with increased capacity for effective involvement in the local government planning process in order to strengthen preservation’s role in communities.
4. Participants will learn about the development, coordination and success of the popular and long-standing Short Course on Local Planning Program, and leave with tangible resources for replicating it in other places.
