UNAP Opinion Survey: Lifespan-Care New England merger
 

Introduction

 
Lifespan (Rhode Island, Miriam, Bradley, and Newport) and Care New England (Women & Infants, Kent, and Butler) have proposed to merge into one large hospital system. Before this merger can happen, it must be approved by the RI Attorney General and the RI Department of Health. If the merger is approved, Lifespan will be the largest employer in the State, and will control approximately 70% of the hospital business in Rhode Island.

Based on what you have heard about the proposed merger, we would like to know your opinion about the following statements.

1. The merger will be good for patients in Rhode Island.

2. The merger will be good for health care workers in Rhode Island.

3. The merger will expand access to important health care services for Rhode Islanders.

4. The merger will increase the cost of health care in Rhode Island.
