In April 2012, the city council started to collect contributions from developers to help fund the services that are needed to support new development. This is called the Community Infrastructure Levy, or CIL. Most of the money will be used to support large projects which will benefit the whole city, such as major road schemes or flood defences, but 15% of the levy collected in each ward will now go towards projects in that area. This is because the government believes that those neighbourhoods that take more development should see a greater share of the benefits.

You can talk to your ward members about the projects or services you would like to see in your ward, or use this short form to submit your ideas for infrastructure projects in your part of the city.

Please note that, according to the government regulation, the money can only be spent on:
  1. The provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure; or
  2. Anything else that is concerned with addressing the demands that development places on an area.
Responses will be collected into a database of ideas, which will help ward councillors build a picture of the what local communities want.
