Summary of CEWE Patrons
This is an opportunity for female students and recent graduates who are thinking of starting up – or have recently started-up – their own business to access a ‘CEWE Patron’ who has had experience of setting up, growing and making a success of their business. The Patron will share their knowledge and experiences with the aspiring entrepreneur and help encourage and support them over a period of time. They will introduce them to their networks and support them in moving their business idea forward.
The scheme is Entrepreneur-led: entrepreneurs have to set objectives for each meeting in consultation with their Patron. All entrepreneurs submit a plan of the topics they wish to discuss with their Patrons before the matching meeting. This document can be reviewed at any stage in the relationship. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to meet their Patrons at least twice a month for an hour each meeting. The Patrons may also invite entrepreneurs to events to meet new contacts that could support the growth of their business and act as ‘champions’ for the entrepreneurs. The Scheme will last for around 4 months, but Patrons and Entrepreneurs will be encouraged to maintain contact after the end of support from the Employability and Enterprise Team at UEL.

Aims of the Scheme
• To support female UEL students and graduates to develop their entrepreneurial skills
• To support female UEL students to start up their own business
• To provide female UEL students and graduates with role models who can share the lessons they have learnt and experiences they have gained
• To give UEL students and graduates access to networks of successful business owners and professionals
