Tincan's Film for Change (f4C) project provides teens with the opportunity to create a short fiction film that explores some area within the general topic of poverty. Over the course of a year, participants will learn what makes a strong film, how emotion is used in film, and how camera work, lighting, music, and dialogue all contribute to creating a powerful experience for the viewer. Working with professional filmmakers as well as Tincan staff in a four-week summer workshop, teens will learn the technical skills needed to shoot the film, as well as the artistic skills to develop a strong script. Over the school year, they will work with musicians and actors to populate the films, shoot the script, and edit it, until the final film is ready for a public showing in May.
