Introduction

The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) is progressing an application to the ACCC for authorisation for ASO members to discuss and set common patient fees within or between shared practices.

The authorisation will be completely voluntary for those members who choose to discuss or set common fees within their practices.

In order to assist our application we have received advice that providing information on the type of business structures existing in the market will greatly assist in the transparency and likelihood of the authorisation being granted.

We therefore ask for your assistance in completing a short survey on your practice/s which will greatly strengthen our case.

We are aware many of our colleagues may own, or work within, a variety of separate practices. Therefore this survey allows you the opportunity to complete the survey for up to three practices which operate as separate businesses.

The survey should only take 5 minutes per practice.

ASO recognises the commercially sensitive nature of the information we would provide to the ACCC as a result of the information collected in this survey. Therefore we will not be providing specific details of ASO members and their business structure rather general statistics.

If you have any questions or difficulties please contact Katrina Ronne via phone: 07 3831 3006 or email: katrina@aso.asn.au

Sincerely,
Dr Arthur Karagiannis, President
Dr Shish Lal, Secretary/Treasurer
Dr Andrew Atkins, Vice President
