Preliminary Board Registration Survey
 

1. INTEREST SURVEY: 2010-11 CEC BOARD OF EDUCATION OFFERINGS

 
The purpose of this survey is to determine interest in four new CEC offerings directed toward boards of education, board members and superintendents for the 2010-11 school year.

The survey takes five minutes to complete and will allow CEC to determine meeting days and locations most convenient to those who are interested in participating. Survey responses are due no later than Friday, September 17.

The four offerings are based upon collaborative board best practices and align to the work CEC is already performing in your district. Additional information on each of the four offerings can be accessed through the CEC website.

Offering times and dates will be established based upon survey responses and will be announced on Monday, September 20. Individual board members and superintendents are requested to complete this survey.


The four offerings are:

1. Board Best Practices Overview: A one-evening overview of 2010-11 CEC board offerings and their alignment s to existing CEC work with administrators and teachers. Designed for individual board members and superintendents.

2. Board Core Elements: a two-hour meeting outlining board best practices; an introduction to a board best practices leadership self-assessment instrument; use of the instrument along with self-assessment results and a board-based report; and either one or two followup meetings with the full board and superintendent on how to address board leadership strengths and opportunities for improvement. Two-hour meeting designed for individual board members and superintendents; individual district followup meeting(s) designed for the full board and the superintendent.

3. Board Deep Dive Topics: a series of four interactive meetings, each on a specific topic:
a) The Board's Strategic Role
b) Board Functions: Organizing a Board's Work
c) Strategically Monitoring from a District Performance Scorecard
d) Balanced, Transparent Communications
Designed for individual board members and superintendents.

4. Board Best Practices Cohort: four meetings where participant share best practices literature and research with practical board issues generated by participants. Designed for individual board members and superintendents.
