|The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Wildlife Management Division is considering a land trade/acquisition proposal on the Bayou Meto Wildlife Management Area. As part of this proposal, the Wildlife Management Division is seeking public input regarding this potential land trade and acquisition.
The details of this proposal involve five (5) separate tracts of land, two (2) of which are currently owned by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and three (3) of which are currently owned by a private landowner (Goose Lake Farms, LLC). The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission owned tracts are delineated by two different colors associated with their respective boundaries (solid green and solid yellow). The Goose Lake Farms, LLC tracts are delineated by three different colors associated with their respective boundaries (yellow-black, green-black and blue-black).
This proposed land trade/acquisition proposal would result in a net gain of 115.5 acres for the Bayou Meto Wildlife Management Area, occurring over the next three years. This proposal involves three (3) distinct land parcel groups, but is being considered as a single, “all or none” proposal. In addition, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is being given an exclusive “first option” to acquire this property. In the event this property is not secured by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, it will be offered and subsequently sold to a private landowner.
