Course Title: Pre-Fabricated Shear Wall Panels and Engineered Applications - 1 PDH - NY1171

This presentation will look at some reasons to consider prefabricated shear panels such as design constraints and field issues, the different types of pre-fabricated shear panels and the applications they are suited for, how to size and specify a pre-fabricated shear panel, and an overview of anchorage for pre-fabricated shear panels.

Participants quickly grasp the types of practical design decisions that must be addressed when creating a structural wall.
Participants will review the key code sections on design of panel wall systems as well as review design constraints and field issues, the different types of pre-fabricated shear panels and the applications they are suited for, how to size and specify a pre-fabricated shear panel, and an overview of anchorage for pre-fabricated shear panels.
Course Title: Evaluating Floor Performance - 1 PDH - NY1170

Speaker: Craig Smith - Weyerhaeuser Corp.

Design with software to meet customer expectations of floor performance. Participants compare the conventional code (Static) approach to floor design with a dynamic approach based on customer preferences. Traditional methods gage the performance of the floor based on uniform, non-moving loads whereas customers gage floor performance by how it feels when they walk, run or jump.

This course will help you to understand the basics of engineered wood product application for structural floors and evaluation engineered wood installation in structural floors. Participants quickly grasp the types of practical design decisions that must be addressed when creating a structural floor using engineered wood products. Participants learn what code says about designing floors using engineered wood products.
