McGuire Air Force Base Safety Tour (1Q2012)
Do you fly in the central New Jersey area? Would you like to avoid being nose-to-nose with a C17? If you answered yes, we have an answer for you.
The Safety Team at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is offering tours for pilots who fly in the JBMDL airspace. The drive-in tour consists of a visit to the Radar Approach Control Center (RAPCON) plus an optional visit to the control tower. A walkthrough of a McGuire-based aircraft may be possible. Time permitting, a look at a simulator might be possible.
Participants must be 17 or over, U.S. citizen with appropriate identification, and with a connection to general aviation (pilot, FBO owner or staff, etc., not spouses). Tour groups are usually limited to no more than 15-20. Large groups may be split into smaller groups.
Tours last approximately 3 1/2 hours from pickup to delivery, depending on group size and whether or not tower tours or static aircraft tours are available. If you are interested in attending the safety tour, please complete the survey below. Those interested in tours will be contacted by email with dates, times, and directions.
