As a leader in the SLO County business community, you are a stakeholder in the long-term economic health of the County and of our cities. As such, we need your input on some important issues.

As you may know, the EVC has contracted with Collaborative Economics to evaluate our county’s business sectors and develop a strategy for the county’s economy.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

In November of 2009, the EVC partnered with the County of San Luis Obispo and the business community to commission a comprehensive economic strategy for the entire county. The project is co-chaired by County Supervisors Frank Mecham and Adam Hill, sponsored by the County of San Luis Obispo and several companies.

The EVC hired COLLABORATIVE ECONOMICS (www.coecon.com), a firm specializing in such projects. Earlier this year the firm completed a comprehensive analysis of our local economy. Then in May, the EVC gathered more than 100 business owners and CEOs from five growing business clusters that were identified in the first report. A second report is also available on the EVC website as a recap of these meetings. The reports can be found on a link on the EVC home page entitled “Economic Strategy Project” (http://sloevc.org/strategy.php). The project is 50% complete and we anticipate finalizing a strategy this fall.
