Paul Bronson Memorial Coach of the Year - Award Description
The Valley Athletic Association recognizes the importance of many volunteer hours and effort put in by numerous volunteers in the community. We appreciate everyone’s help in making the VAA program a success and want to honor, annually, coaches who exemplify the following characteristics:
• Respects for everyone involved in the game
• Demonstrates good sportsmanship
• Shows concern for the development of all their players and focuses on the ‘team’ aspect of the game
• Is a positive role model
• Has the ability to improve the performance of the players and the team they coach
• Listens to input from and provides feedback to the parent’s of their players as to the child’s progress
• Prepares for and conducts well organized practices and games, involving all of the players on the team
• Understands the rules of the sport
• Creates a fun and enjoyable experience for the players
• Follows the mission of the VAA
PAUL BRONSON coached VAA football and basketball beginning in 1997. He touched the lives of many youths through his generous commitment and energy. Paul shared many of the same values that are at the foundation of VAA. During his years of service in VAA, Paul demonstrated respect for the kids he coached, received commendations from parents and exemplified the true spirit of sportsmanship. With four children, Paul was always willing to step forward and help with the VAA teams. Paul made an extraordinary impact, and had a positive influence, on the kids he coached.
Paul Bronson passed away on December 21, 2004. VAA has awarded the President's Award to Paul Bronson and his family. In addition, VAA has established the "Paul Bronson Memorial Coach of the Year Award". The award will be given each year during the VAA Annual Meeting in November to two VAA coaches - one Community, one Traveling - who advance the interests of Apple Valley youth, demonstrates respect for the players and instills the principles of teamwork, fundamentals, and spirit of sportsmanship.
