NC Wristband Standardization Project

1. Banding Together for Patient Safety

Since the July 2009 launch of the statewide initiative to standardize colors used for three patient alerts (RED=ALLERGY, YELLOW=FALL RISK, PURPLE=DNR), over 90 North Carolina hospitals have been participating in the effort to implement the recommendation by January 1, 2010. The NC Quality Center and The Color of Safety Taskforce would like follow up with all NC hospitals to evaluate progress towards this goal. Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey even if you have recently provided feedback on your hospital's efforts. The analysis from this survey will allow us to better assess the the degree of standardization in North Carolina.

Remember, if you use color in any way to communicate the three identified patient alert conditions, your hospital is strongly encouraged to follow the recommendation. You do not have to use patient wristbands to participate.
