Foster Application

Thank you so much for your interest in fostering our lovely animals at the Western PA Humane Society!

Fostering is a labor of love . . . sometimes quite time-consuming, always a joy that brings with it a huge measure of gratification and fulfillment. Your temporary four-legged guests will appreciate your life-saving efforts, and so will the entire staff of our shelter. Foster parents like you are so important to our mission of saving lives, and ensure that kittens and puppies too young to be adopted, sick and injured animals get the care they need to find wonderful forever homes.

Before filling out this application, please be aware that all of our potential foster families will be visited by a Humane Police Officer as part of the approval process. Also, please examine your busy schedule to make sure you will have the time to care for a foster animal or animals. Think of your home situation, and whether your current family members and pets will be able to welcome temporary four-legged guests. Finally, look within yourself to make sure that you will be able to bring your foster animals back into the shelter after the foster period is done, so they can find wonderful forever homes. Because it is so very easy to fall in love with your foster animals, this is one of the toughest parts of fostering, but a necessary one. There will always be more animals who desperately need your loving care!
