OREGON'S COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE BRIDGES: PROJECT OVERVIEW

Six OTIA III bridge repair and replacement projects are scheduled for construction in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area during summer 2010. Some projects are approaching completion; others will continue another two or more years or more.

The projects improve Oregon’s bridges on Interstate 84, helping ensure safety and mobility for freight, tourists and local residents for years to come. Visually, the improvements follow design guidelines developed through an extensive public involvement process showing that Gorge residents favored bridges that reflect the design of the Historic Columbia River Highway, which runs parallel to I-84.
