Improving the California Digital Newspaper Collection Software
Introduction
Since its inception in 2005, the California Digital Newspaper Collection (CDNC) has relied on grant funds and state support. In 2011 both sources of revenue were cut. The CDNC has been able to cobble together funding through 2013 but not beyond. In the future we hope to cover some operating expenses by providing premium features that individuals and institutions can access through annual subscriptions. We've designed this survey to help us identify the features that users would like, and will use the information collected to seek grant funding to improve the CDNC software. We intend to keep access to the CDNC free for everyone, and make certain "premium" features available to subscribers.
