East High Schedule Survey

East is considering modifying the daily school schedule, and SCC is looking for your input. Please complete the following short survey by February 5. Your input, combined with feedback from students, will help the administration and faculty as they set up next year's schedule.

East is on a “block” schedule – each class meets every other day (81-82 minutes on A/B days). We can keep this schedule (with slightly longer periods), or we can modify the blocks by “splitting” some or all of the blocks into shorter classes (42-45 minutes each). Regardless of the schedule option, East will have a longer school day that will most likely run from 7:45am to 2:30pm. Here’s how the options might look:

Image as described above

1. Based on your experience with student performance at East, which type of schedule do you think will be the most effective for student learning?

2. Please provide more details on which schedule option(s) you believe would be best for student learning and why (optional)

3. If East decides to try the Modified Block schedule, which classes do you think work best in a split block (42-45 minutes, 5 days a week)?

4. Which classes do you think work best in a block (90-100 minutes, every other day)?

5. Do you have any additional suggestions or concerns to share regarding the schedule at East?

Thank you very much for sharing your ideas and suggestions with us! If you’d like to learn more about these options and plans for putting a new schedule into place, please join us at 7pm on February 3 at East or 7pm on February 4 at Glendale for an informational meeting about schedule changes. In addition, results of this parent survey will be available on the School Community Council page of the East High website by mid-February.
