*Roberta J. Lipman, School of Education, 1959
I was born/raised on Chicago's North side/ attended Von Steuben H.S. matriculating to School of Speech at Northwestern University/ later transferred to Roosevelt University, when I was awarded partial scholarship/ job in Political Science Dept. Upon graduation, taught in Chicago and became an active member of the RU Alumni Association, serving on Bd. of Governors, becoming President/Alumni representative to RU Bd. of Trustees. I was a Trustee at Beth Emet Synagogue/Evanston, President of Young Leadership Division/ Jewish Federation (also served on Board of The Ark, Jewish Council on Foreign Relations, Jewish Children's Bureau, Jewish Community Centers. My second career was as Exec. Director of the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce/Midwest (12 years), after which I started Roberta J.Lipman + Associates, a marketing company, covering corporate/ not-for-profit arenas (clients are primarily institutions of higher learning/small businesses). Areas of expertise incl: Communications, Event Planning, Public Relations and Fund-Raising.
Special Qualifications: In addition to the above, I am most proud of having been the recipient of the 25th Anniversary Award, presented on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Roosevelt University, representing the Class of 1959. I was one of only 25 distinguished alumni to be so honored. I would like to think that the confidence placed in me back in 1970, when Roosevelt University was only 25 years old, was not in vain. I may represent an older generation of RU graduates, but we are still alive and kicking (thank G-D), and we still have a lot to offer our alma mater.
