QUESTIONNAIRE

In an effort to reach the regional goal of 70% waste diversion by the year 2015, the City of Surrey, along with most municipalities within the Metro Vancouver Region, is planning to launch a residential organics curbside collection program. This program will require households to separate organic waste (i.e. all the smelly stuff like food waste) from their garbage.

The organic waste will be collected weekly along with any yard waste at curbside (yard waste and organic waste will be collected at the same time). This waste will be taken to either a compost facility where the material will be processed into a nutrient rich soil product, or it will be taken to a future organics biofuel facility where it will be processed into a carbon neutral vehicle grade natural gas. The success of this program in terms of the amount of waste diverted and processed will depend on the level of resident participation.

Please take the time to answer the following few questions about the new collection service and different options for its implementation.
