1. The VA Coordinator/Certifying Official at Bainbridge College is administering this survey. The purpose of this survey is to collect data on the military and veteran population attending Bainbridge College. It is completely voluntary but the information is being used to improve services to our military/veteran population here at Bainbridge College. As part of this survey we need to confirm that you are a Bainbridge College student. If you are a BC student, please list your BC Student ID# and contact information in order that we can confirm that you a student.

2. Are you currently serving in any armed forces of the United States, or are you a veteran student, or a dependent of a veteran student?

3. If you are a veteran, are you a disabled veteran? If yes, are you aware of CH. 31 Vocational Rehabilitation benefits? (FYI: If you area disabled veteran and need accomodations, Bainbridge College has a disability office that can assist in providing accomodations for you.)

4. Do you receive VA Educational Benefits? (The VA Certifying Official can assist you with applying for your eligibility if you know that you are eligible for educational benefits from the VA or a military branch of service).

5. Are you aware of the new VOW to Hire Heroes Act and the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP)? VRAP is a Dept of Labor program that pays for 12 months at the Montgomery G.I. Bill rate for unemployed veterans ages 35 to 60. The law also has a tax incentive for employers who hire Veterans beginning in June. The school certifying official certifies this new benefit to the VA once approved.

6. Do you know of anyone who has PTSD (Post Traumtic Stress Disorder), TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), or any other Combat Related injury or issue? (PTSD is a result of physiological changes that occur in the brain due to high stress situations, such as combat. TBI is another change that can result from being exposed to explosives, or concussion-related events, such as IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), mortar rounds, or grenades/rockets exploding).

7. Are you supportive of Bainbridge College taking a stronger and more active role in making the college a more military friendly institution?

8. Are you aware that in the next three to five years that there is an expected 1.5 million additional veterans (above that of the normal existing rate) that are expected to leave the military due to budget reductions and reductions in force? 30,000 left the Navy in 2011/2012 due to RIF (Reduction In Force) and currently there are 100,000 from both the Army and Marines that are not expecting to leave the military but are being forced out in the coming year).

9. Should Bainbridge College place a strong focus on building a network of local employers interested in hiring veterans to build a bridge between a completed program of study and a job waiting on them when it is completed?
