Sunshine Day in North Carolina: Securing a future for dialogue on open government

A conference sponsored by the Sunshine Center of the North Carolina Open Government Coalition on Tuesday, March 16 at the newly opened International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro.

The afternoon events include a celebration of a year in investigative reporting fueled by public records, a showcase of the City of Greensboro's new internal response to public records requests and a briefing on the latest legal and policy issues in open government in our state. The evening culminates with a presentation by NPR's Nina Totenberg.

Who should attend: Citizens, journalists, government employees, librarians, lawyers, historians, public officials, anyone and everyone!

Where: International Civil Rights Center and Museum, 134 South Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401

Cost: $30 (includes lunch). Student registration is $15. (Registration includes a free ticket to hear NPR’s Nina Totenberg) **Add $10 and join the NC Open Government Coalition for 2010 (normal annual dues $25)

The event begins at 12:30 with a luncheon.

The NC Open Government Coalition was recently awarded a Knight Foundation challenge grant to endow its educational efforts with the Sunshine Center. All funds raised are matched by the grant.
