2012 ACT Professional Development Workshops

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to train a professional development sessions at the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) 2012 International Conference in Savannah, GA on July 29, 2012.

ACT supports mobility management professionals at private employers, metropolitan planning organizations, regional transit authorities, universities, state & local governments, and transportation management associations in their efforts to promote transportation options, reduce traffic congestion, conserve energy and improve air quality. The annual ACT International Conference is the leading transportation demand management conference in the country. ACT seeks dynamic, experienced instructors to train four-hour professional development workshops on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Savannah, Georgia.

Instructors will receive a total compensation of $750 for training one of the professional development sessions. One ACT conference registration of equal or lesser value may be selected in lieu of the financial compensation. All other expenses (including travel and lodging) are the instructor’s responsibility.

To be eligible for consideration as a Professional Development Workshop Trainer, all presenters must agree to abide by the Standards and Guidelines for Professional Development Workshop Trainers

Proposal Submission Guidelines:

  1. Presentation Submission: All proposals must be submitted online.
  2. Profiles of Presenters: If more than one presenter is involved, the lead presenter should be identified as the contact. However, all required information about the professional qualifications, experience, evaluations and references should be furnished for ALL presenters in the proposal.
  3. Partnering:
    • Presenter Panels are encouraged where appropriate. However, panels should be limited to four (4) members.
    • Consultants are encouraged to include customers/clients as co-presenters whenever they can demonstrate an example through actual case studies.
  4. Presenter Substitutions of Revisions: Substitution of primary or secondary presenters after the proposal is accepted are to be approved by ACT. If emergency or time constraints prevent evaluation of a substitute presenter, ACT reserves the right to cancel the presentation, and/or assign it to another available presenter whose approved proposal is on file.
  5. Undertaking: All presenters are required to sign and accept the "Standards and Guidelines for Professional Development Workshop Trainers", which includes among other requirements, the following undertakings:
    • Consultants and commercial products/service providers may not promote their company, products or services as part of their presentations. Any use of proprietary information should have an educational value and be provided free of charge.
  6. Presentation Materials: The ACT Professional Development Committee will review the submitted information and may require changes or edits to be made before the materials are posted to the conference website.
    • Trainers must bring their own personal computers and ACT will provide the LCD projector and screen.
    • While reference to a presenter's services or products may be included if relevant to a presentation, no commercial offers or product/service promotions can be included in the slide presentation or mentioned verbally at the session.
  7. Proposal Submission Schedule and Deadlines:
    • ACT will advise trainers about the selection of their proposals by Friday, March 2, 2012.
    • Course powerpoint/presentation information must be submitted by June 1, 2012.
