1. Welcome to the Undergraduate Engineer Majors Questionnaire!

By clicking the “Begin Survey” link below, you state that you are over 18 years of age and wish to participate in a program of research being conducted by Drs. Donna Gibson and Catherine Packer-Williams, in the Department of Educational Studies at The University of South Carolina.

The purpose of this research study is to explore factors that can contribute to the widening of the engineering career pipeline for students of all genders and diverse backgrounds.

If you choose to participate in this research study, you will be asked to complete a survey about your experiences. It will take approximately 40 minutes to complete.

These surveys will explore the overall academic and related experiences of undergraduate engineer majors from middle school to college.

All information collected in this study is confidential. The information you provide will be grouped with information other people also provide for reporting and presentations and your name will not be used. Data will be stored on a private computer owned by the researchers and will be password protected.

Due to the public nature of the Internet, the possibility of someone intercepting your data is possible, but highly unlikely. If you do not exit or close your Internet browser when you have completed your survey, it is possible that another person using your computer at a later time could view your responses. It is therefore important that you exit your browser after you have submitted your survey.

The research is not designed to help you personally, but the benefits to participation include contributing to research on an important, understudied topic.

As a participant:

I understand that the questions may ask for me to reflect on my personal experiences and opinions and may be sensitive in nature which may result in some discomfort.

I understand that my participation is voluntary.

I feel uncomfortable with and that I may withdraw from the study at any time.
