2012-2013 School Opening Date Survey

 

Springfield Public Schools is in the process of creating the 2012-2013 academic calendar. We would like input from parents/guardians, school staff and others.

One option is to start school before Labor Day. Monday, August 27th would be the first day of school if we start before Labor Day. We would keep our traditional February and April vacations, and the tentative last day of school would be June 20, 2013. Our second option is to start school after Labor Day. An after-Labor Day start would make the first day of school Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. We would schedule one mid-year vacation in March and would not have the traditional February and April vacation. The tentative last day of school would be Tuesday, June 24, 2013, (or earlier if there are no snow days).
