Thank you for your interest in this survey. At NEOEA, we know it's important to promote good communications among our members and between the organization's members and leadership. Your answers can help us to use your dues dollars more effectively to provide services that you want and need.
This survey is an attempt to gauge our members' insights regarding conferences. Your answers to the following questions will help NEOEA's Representative Assembly and Board of Directors make wise decisions about future NEOEA conferences. It should take less than ten minutes of your time.
Like many other terms, "conference" can be used in many different ways. For the purposes of this survey, we are identifying conferences by three characteristics.
First, we're using "conference" to refer to events whose purpose is primarily some sort of training or exchange of information; we're not including gatherings whose primary purpose is to govern something. For example, in politics we would consider campaign training to be a conference, but not a political convention. Our Health Care Summit is a conference, but our Representative Assembly isn't. General rule: if the main business of the event is to vote on something, it's probably not a conference.
Second, for our purposes, we're talking about something that wouldn't be an add-on to a work day, but would require a separate time commitment--anywhere from a few hours on a weeknight or weekend to several days.
Third, we're considering all sorts of conferences, not just those within the Association.
If you have any questions as you're filling in this survey, please give the NEOEA office a call at 216/518-0200 or 800/354-6794. Don't forget to leave us your email address in question 13 if you'd like to be in the drawing for a mug.
And now, on to the questions!
