1.

The National Organization to End Guardianship Abuse will host a Victims Caucus and meetup on Capitol Hill on June 14th, 2011 and June 15th, 2011 during Elder Abuse Awareness Week to advocate for change to end the abuse and exploitation of our elderly and disabled citizens.

This meetup will be a victims caucus on Elder Abuse, Financial Exploitation and Guaridanship Abuse.

This event is scheduled to take place during Elder Abuse Awareness Week.

On June 14th and June 155h, Victims, Advocates and Family Members will spend the day meeting with their Congressional leaders on the Hill. Where possible members from the same state will coordinate their efforts. Each member is responsible for contacting their legislator and scheduling a meeting with the legislator or staffer.

During the late afternoon on June 14th participants will meet to share their stories, to network and to come up with recommendations for change that will help to end the abuse of our incapacitated Elderly and Disabled Adults.

On the morning of June 15h, the Congressional Victims Rights Caucus will be holding a briefing on Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation. The focus will be on what Congress is presently doing to combat elder abuse and exploitation (what bills are pending) and to determine what more Congress can do at the federal level to address this problem. Participants are welcome to attend. Time permitting there will be a Q&A session after the briefing.
