Have you always wanted to can your own food, but don't know where to start?
Are you worried about the safety, cost, or time involved in getting started yourself?
Do you already home-can and would like to network with other local canners?
We're gauging interest in starting a local canning co-op in NE to reduce the barriers to getting started preserving your own food and to help current canners share resources and knowledge.
Some of our Goals:
• To pool work and resources to better enable the group to efficiently, economically, and enjoyably preserve their own foods
• To provide opportunities to share and pass on knowledge related to home-canning and other food preservation techniques
• To acquire canning or other food preservation equipment for use by the group to reduce the cost of getting started
• To purchase produce and other cannable foods in bulk, potentially directly from farms/you-picks, to save money
• To share tips, canning recipes, recipes using our preserved foods, etc.
• To have fun sharing a skill that enables us to enjoy local food year-round!
This survey is to help determine what the group would like to see the canning co-op accomplish -- we'd love to hear from you!
