1. Participant Registration and Information

 
BuildaBridge Institute is a training and applied research academy designed to prepare artists, youth workers, community and congregational leaders, teachers, social service professionals, and nonprofit organization personnel to integrate the arts effectively in education and community and human development.

BuildaBridge Institute is Eastern University’s instructional partner for the Master of Arts in Urban Studies, Arts in Transformation Concentration. Graduate students attend the Institute during June 2-10 as part of their curriculum work.

BuildaBridge Institute 2010 will include two simultaneous tracks with courses in foundational theory, arts management, arts education, applied arts and collaborative art-making.

Track one courses will include: Foundations for Arts in Transformation; Arts, Creativity and Human Development; Arts in Education; Arts and Spiritual Development; Organization for Community Arts featuring collaborative work and fund-raising.

Track two courses will include: Arts in Healing, Arts in Social Services, and Leadership Practicum.

Participants of both tracks will also attend Methods Lab Practica where they will observe and assist a master teacher in a direct arts service program with youth/seniors in a local shelter/nursing home; and Skills Development Workshops in different art mediums (dance, transformational drama, visual arts, conscious drumming etc.) and cross-cultural skills.

Returning participants will also have the option to attend on June 7 new courses in Arts Relief. BuildaBridge reserves the right to cancel the Arts Relief one-day training course pending sufficient participation.

Undergraduate and graduate credit is available through Eastern University. The BuildaBridge Institute also offers an accredited Certificate in Arts in Transformation (http://www.buildabridge.org/certificates/index.html).

1) Full registration for Track 1 or Track 2, which includes all course work, textbooks and supplies, is $550 (by May 25). An additional $255 covers 4 nights of room and board at Bryn Mawr College (overnight accommodation, 3 meals/day).
2) A single day rate of $175 includes registration and 2 meals.
3) Full Institute commuters can pay $120 for all meals (commuter meals include lunches and dinners from Wednesday to Saturday and lunch on Sunday).
4) Registration for the Arts Relief one-day training course is $99, with room and board for June 7 at $57 or commuter meals for $25 (lunch and dinner).

Travel to the Institute site is the responsibility of the participant. Open Institute classes begin at 12:00 pm on June 2 and conclude at 2:30 pm on June 6.


Instructions (Registration Deadline is May 25, 2010):

• Provide a business (or home) address if available.
• Cancellation must be made in writing and received no later than May 20, 2010.
• A $50 processing fee will apply to all cancellations.
• On-site cancellation of meals or events cannot be
honored.
