Obstacle Detection

*
1. Which of the following best describes your level of vision?
*
2. How much do you walk on a given day?
*
3. Do you currently have a device to assist walking, such as a cane or guide dog? If so what type of assistance do you use?
*
4. Thinking back to the past week, have you walked into any objects at waist level or above? (such as tree branches)
5. If you answered yes to the previous question, how often did you walk into objects above waist level?
*
6. We are currently designing a pair of glasses that use ultrasonic sensors to detect nearby objects or obstacles and notifying the user through a vibration to either the left, center, or right side of the chest in a vest or suspenders, depending on where the obstacle is located. The glasses would be able to detect a obstacle from up to 2 meters away, and the vibration would increase the closing you were to the object. The device battery would last at least 8 hours, and would be powered by two rechargeable AA batteries.

Given these product features, how much interest would you have in the device on a scale of 1 - 5?
*
7. How important are the following features of the device? Please answer using a 7-point scale where 1 means “not at all important” and 7 means “extremely important.”

8. If the device were on the market, do you think you would buy it?

9. At what price would you think that the device would be a good value?
10. Do you have any comments or concerns about the device?
