1. Welcome to the SOULful Cedars Home Energy Survey
Thank you for taking this survey for SOULful Cedars.
Why SOULful? Because we seek Sustainable Outcomes in Unity and Love.
Unity and Love are essential elements of Unitarian Universalist principles.
SOULful Cedars is an initiative of the Green Sanctuary Committee of Cedars UU Church, with Rev. Jaco ten Hove as our spiritual leader.
Our goals for this Home Energy survey are:
1. To let you know about opportunities to reduce electrical energy use in your home - to enable you to reduce your carbon footprint, help the planet AND save money.
2. To give you an opportunity for some free expert advice that could save even more energy at home. Our community has been given a major grant by the US Dept of Energy. At no charge, the grant will provide a home energy review to as many as 4,000 homes in our community. This survey is a first step to signing up for such a free review. Then 1,000 homes will be eligible for an even-deeper home energy assessment.
3. A further goal is to introduce you to a member of your Cedars Neighborhood Team who will be able to help you qualify for a free home energy review.
4. Lastly, we, on the Cedars Green Sanctuary team are interested in survey feedback so we can help our congregation become leaders in taking care of the Earth because it's our home.
If your house was built before 1980, there is a particularly strong opportunity for you to lessen your electrical energy use at home, because building codes prior to 1980 didn't focus on energy wastage, and you therefore have lots of room for improvement.
The survey takes from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how quickly you pick answers, and whether you offer comments.
The survey results will be shared with our congregation - on a no-names basis - later this year.
