SWIP Analysis for Area Office on Aging Strategic Plan

Stakeholder SWIP Analysis Survey for Area Office on Aging Strategic Plan 2011-2014

The purpose of the SWIP Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Issues, and Positions) is to solicit input from stakeholders both internal and external to an organization. Since the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. plans for a 10 county area in Northwestern Ohio, it is also important to address the aging network, from a global perspective, in this assessment.

The SWIP Analysis relates to the Environmental Scan you recently participated in. The environment has been “assessed” and trends and forces discussed; the next task is to identify the most significant of these.

As the SWIP Analysis is developed, keep in mind that strengths can also be positions, weaknesses can be issues, or issues can be positions, etc. Duplication of situations between categories could occur.

There are four parts to this survey; one for each activity in a SWIP: identifying strengths of the agency which can be built upon in realizing the vision, knowing the weaknesses which must be overcome, being aware of the conditions and activities which are issues of which the agency can avail itself, and potential positions that may affect the success of the agency.

A copy of the Area Office on Aging's current strategic plan (2007 - 2010) is available at this web location: http://www.areaofficeonaging.com/strategic.pdf. The results of the SWIP Analysis results for that plan begin on Page 23 and may be useful to you as you formulate your comments.
