1. Nursing Educational Needs Survey

 
The faculty of the College of Nursing at the University of Rhode Island is interested in your input about furthering your education in nursing. We would appreciate if you would take a few minutes to complete this survey. We are interested in finding out which nursing educational programs you would like to see offered at the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing as well as the format of those classes - live classes, location of live classes, as well as day and time. We would also like to assess if you would prefer web-assisted classes ( combination of online and live)or completely online classes. Your responses to this survey are anonymous.

1. What was your basic nursing education? Check only one answer.

2. What year did you complete your basic nursing education?

3. We would like to find out what education you have had other than your basic education in nursing. Please check all that apply.

4. If you obtained a degree in a field other than nursing, please list your major, the degree granted, and the year.

8. If you are interested in pursuing a degree in nursing please specify which type. The PhD is the traditional doctorate and prepares someone to teach in the university setting, conduct research, and contribute to the theoretical base of the discipline. The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a new curriculum that may be required for anyone pursuing an advanced practice nursing role (Nurse Practitioners for example, or Nurse Administrators)after the year 2015. 9. We plan to offer the Doctorate of Nursing Practice initially as a post-masters option for people who already have a masters degree. It will be approximately 35-40 post-masters credits and will be focused on leadership and practice. If interested in this role, please indicate when you might be thinking of pursuing it. After 2015, anyone desiring to become an advanced practice nurse MUST enroll in a DNP program to be certified. Before then, it is optional, and anyone with an existing masters and in an advanced practice role will be "grandfathered" in -
