Class Request Form Survey

Please fill out the form below to request a Career Services staff member visit your classroom. Requesting a presentation at least two weeks ahead of time maximizes the probability that a staff member will be available for your workshop. In order to accommodate all requests, staff will only be able to present to each class once. Resources can be provided upon request for additional presentations.

Evening workshops/presentation requests that are outside of regular business hours (M-F, 8:00am-6:00pm) will be reviewed and we will do our best to accommodate the requests. Evening requests are contingent upon staff availability.

4. Presentation Topics for Request #1

Presentation Topics for Request #1 CAREER SERVICES OVERVIEW: (15 minutes) To explain services offered to students through the career services department including career advising, resume preparation, job searching etc. Ideal for any course.

PROMOTE CAREER FAIR AND OFFER TIPS FOR SUCCESS (10 minutes) Inform students about upcoming Career Fairs and provide coaching and tips on how to be successful interacting with employers.

HOW TO CHOOSE A MAJOR WORKSHOP: (1 hour) To provide the four step career exploration process and resources available to students. Ideal for any 101 course.

JOB SHADOWING / INFORMATION INTERVIEWING WORKSHOP: (1 hour) To teach students how to explore careers by networking to meet professionals in career fields of interest. Ideal for any course.

MBTI WORKSHOP: (90 minutes) Use the Myers-Briggs to help find the right career and find out which personality type seems best suited for our long list of jobs and careers. Ideal for any course.

RESUME AND COVER LETTER WORKSHOP: (60-90 minutes) To aid students in writing a professional cover letter and shares trade secrets in getting a resume noticed. Ideal for any IVYT, ENGL, upper level, or capstone course.

INTERVIEW WORKSHOP: (60-90 minutes) This interactive workshop will help students anticipate what the interviewer is looking for and use this face-to-face time to verbalize interests, enthusiasm, and qualifications for the position. Ideal for any IVYT, COMM, upper level, or capstone course.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS / NETWORKING WORKSHOP: (30-60 minutes) Networking is one of your most effective tools to use in exploring career options; and a support system once a student embarks on a career. Ideal for any course.

DRESS TO IMPRESS WORKSHOP: (1 hour) Students will learn basic tips and suggestions to make a positive 1st impression in any situation. Ideal for any course including capstone.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: (30 minutes) To discuss the importance and value of gaining work experience in a field while attending school and how it will increase the chances of obtaining a job. Ideal for any capstone course.
