It has been called to our attention that the ballot language for Option 4 in the first survey we conducted on Parish Council Elections did not accurately represent what had been suggested at the community Convocation. After much discussion, the Parish Council has decided to repeat the survey, with the corrected language for Option 4. Please vote for one of the options below. The Parish Council will use your input when considering changes to the Parish By-Laws. We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience.

Option #1: Keep the Parish Council election as it is. This means that the Parish Community nominates candidates. These candidates are reviewed by the Parish Council and then placed on a slate. As an example, if two positions are needed and there are 5 candidates nominated only 2 names are placed on the slate after being reviewed and selected by the Parish Council. The slate is then presented to the Parish Community to vote on accepting or not accepting each candidate.

Option #2: The Parish Community nominates candidates. Each nominated candidate will respond to a set of questions. These responses will be sent to each member of the Community. There will then be a ballot with all of the Candidates names on it and each member of the Community can vote for 2 people

Option #3: Have a Parish Council Election based on the Casting of the Lots (ACTS 1). The Parish Community would nominate Candidates. Each Candidate's name would be placed in a vessel on the altar. The Parish Community would pray over the names and then 2 names would be drawn and those would be the 2 new Parish Council Members.

Option #4: The Parish Community nominates candidates. These candidates are reviewed by the Parish Council and then selected without the vote of the Community. As an example, if two positions are needed and there are 5 candidates nominated only 2 names will be selected by the Parish Council without a further vote by the Community.
