5. This year, Park District Sports Camps developed a mission statement and goals to guide the staff in planning for the summer. The mission of the camp was to "Prepare tomorrow's leaders for success both on and off the field."

In order to accomplish this mission, staff's goals for the camp were:

1) Have fun!
• As we engage in a variety of activities that revolve around sports.
• In a summer camp setting that incorporates both learning and play.

2) Learn the basics!
• By covering the basic rules, skills, and positions for many sports.
• Through the use of age-appropriate equipment so that campers can be successful.

3) Become a teammate!
• Through emphasis that the entire camp is one TEAM, with each camper receiving equal playing time and attention.
• By modeling ways to be good teammates: sharing, encouraging, and working together.

4) Love the game!
• By encouraging a lifelong love and participation in sports.
• As we participate in a variety of sports, enabling campers to begin to discover their favorites.
