In the style of game I run, Player Characters do die, can suffer grievous set backs and will invariably face powerful and intelligent opponents who will be willing to kill your character as well as the characters of your fellow party members. There are also times that I will be rolling well or you will be rolling poorly and this may too result in the death of your character.
