The purpose of this study is to examine how mathematics teachers form a philosophy of technology use. The entire questionnaire can be completed on this website and should take no more than one hour. You will receive a one-time payment of $25 for participating in the study. Once you submit your questionnaire, please contact the principal investigator in order to receive your payment for participation. This study is sponsored by an internal grant from Montana Tech of the University of Montana.
If you agree to take part in this study, you will complete a questionnaire asking about your opinions of technology use in the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Whereas you may not directly benefit from this study, your participation may help researchers to understand what mathematics teachers think about technology use in the teaching and learning of mathematics. There is no anticipated discomfort for those participating in this study, so risk to participants is minimal. There is a potential loss of confidentiality. To protect against this, you will not be asked to provide your name at any point during the survey nor will your name ever be associated with any of the answers that you provide. Only the principal investigator will ever know the names of anyone that received compensation for participating in the survey.
Your participation in this project is voluntary. You are free to choose not to participate in the project, to skip any questions you do not wish to answer in the questionnaire, and to stop at any time. Even if you choose to skip some questions, you will still be eligible to receive the $25 compensation. At the end of the survey, you will be provided with the e-mail address of the principal investigator who will arrange for you to receive compensation for your participation in the study.
If you have any questions about the research project, you may contact the Principle Investigator named at the top of this form or the Chair of the IRB through the University of Montana Research Office at 406-243-6670.
Thank you.

The researcher will also use your philosophy of technology use in teaching of the Montana Tech course “Technology in the Mathematics Classroom”. This course is designed to help preservice mathematics teachers learn about the uses of technology in the mathematics classroom. Your teaching philosophy will be used to help these preservice teachers learn about the variety of ways that technology can be used in mathematics education. Since this survey is anonymous, the students in the course will never know your identity. They will only read your philosophy.
